Surrey Counselling and Psychotherapy Directory is trading under Ekstasis Ltd, a company owned and managed by Emma Baskerville a Psychotherapist in private practice.

The site was developed for two purposes:

After many years working in the public sector within both the NHS and voluntary environments, I noticed that when referring clients onto a counselling service it was difficult to locate someone appropriate in the local area.  A well known, impartial and informative area to access counselling or psychotherapy for people in residential communities was lacking.

Therefore this site was created for the public to access local information about mental health professionals and access to counselling or psychotherapy services at no cost.

As well as a search engine this site is an established online therapeutic community. Working in private practice can be experienced as isolating at times. I felt the need for a place to network, make contact with other therapists and seek support from my peers. With time at a premium, it felt ideal to create an open online area with access to a large population of professionals who are invited to share knowledge and support each other.

It is the only site to combine a directory service alongside a place for psychotherapists, counsellors and psychologists to meet, discuss professional issues and network.
